Why Slowing Down Matters To Your Health

Are you someone who’s afraid of slowing down.?

Maybe you think it would mean you’ll miss out on some opportunities or it will take you forever to reach where you wanted to go if you break your stride.⁣

Quick question for you: How’s that working for ya?

I’m all too familiar with being forced to slow down (hello burnout 🙋🏾‍♀️) and my recent tussle with Covid, was yet another reminder of the importance of taking your time.

It's shown me that slowing down doesn't have to mean spending more time, but it does mean taking the time, some time, YOUR time.

You don't need to spend more hours in the kitchen to make healthy meals, but you need to take your time nourishing yourself well with food.⁣

You don't need to spend more time in bed, but you need to take your time giving yourself ways to rest.

You don't need to spend more time in the gym, but you need to take your time moving your body.

You don't need to spend more time away on vacation, but you need to take your time finding fun and/or relaxation.

Getting there 'fast' or doing it 'quick' is enticing as heck (and who doesn't want to shorten the time) but ONLY ever rushing to get 'there', is probably one reason you're never really rested, satisfied or energized. ⁣

A body that's forever being, feeling and living rushed is a body that's forever stressed and hardly nourished. ⁣

To get nourished or stay nourished requires investing YOUR time.⁣

And the 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘴𝘵 way to reap gains from that investment is to throw out the need to rush, put a deadline or a timeline on that nourishment.⁣

In other words, get comfortable with taking YOUR time. ⁣

How would things shift right now if you gave yourself the time, some time, YOUR time?
